Student Government Institute

Student Government Institute is hosted each year by the University of Florida with the goal of bringing Student Government leaders and advisors together to participate in leadership and organization development and discussion of current issues impacting Student Governments and the students they represent.

We are excited to host the Fourth Annual Student Government Institute virtually May 20 – 21, 2021.

Over the course of the two-day institute participants will be able to hear from leading experts in the topic of focus for that day, attend educational sessions, participate in guided workshops for your Student Government organization, and break off into small groups for facilitated conversations.

On the first day of the conference we will be focusing on COVID-19 and the impact it has had on Student Government Organizations and your student body. Sessions will be focused on maintaining business practices, advocating for student needs, and what the steps to take when we all return to campus regularly. On the second day we will be focusing on individual and group development. We will be hosting leadership workshops based on using your experience in the job search, strategic planning for your officer team, and sharing best practices.

Throughout the Institute we will be offering concurrent sessions for advisors. Advisors are encouraged to attend and present sessions in both student leader and advisor tracks.

It is our goal for this institute to be a place for leaders and advisors across Student Governments to share their ideas and knowledge. If you are unable to complete information at this time, you can register to reserve your spaces and a member of the Registration Team will follow up before the registration deadline to collect the information.
