ACCENT Speakers Bureau is the largest student-run speakers bureau in the nation. It has been part of campus for over 40 years and has provided the University of Florida with a plethora of big names, including past Presidents, Prime Ministers, media moguls, business leaders and sports legends. ACCENT strives to educate the student body, outside of the classroom, on current hot topics and controversies by bringing influential, insightful, and sometimes controversial speakers to the university. ACCENT sponsors many of its own shows, but also co-sponsors with many student groups. This position is also responsible for administering the “Let Students Choose” program, which allows students to vote on potential acts for future semesters.

Action SG is an agency of Student Government whose purpose is threefold: to coordinate with the Student Body President the execution of the executive agenda as it relates to the campus community, to facilitate the relationship of Student Government and campus stakeholders through outreach, and to promote the activities of Student Government and Student Government affiliates through multimedia outlets.

The Bridges Multicultural Outreach Program is an agency whose mission is to prepare the next generation of racial minority scholars in the state of Florida to be competitive applicants in UF’s application process. The program is designed to work with high school students from various underrepresented backgrounds by enrolling them in a semester-long program that entails application readiness workshops/webinars, a comprehensive mentorship program, and a large-scale visitation program where each scholar will get the opportunity to experience “A day in the life of a UF college student.”

Chomp the Vote is a program of Student Government which provides the students of the University of Florida with opportunities to register or update their voter information, educate them about current political issues, and provide conducive measures to encourage voting. All of these duties must be performed in a non-partisan and legal way as defined by the State of Florida Statutes. The agency works with the ideals and goals of the Alachua County Supervisor of Elections as much as possible and while also attempting to keep the aforementioned body informed of its activities. Chomp the Vote is responsible for including all partisan and candidate groups on campus in a fashion that will promote nonpartisan registration, education and mobilization.

Class Councils are a representative body which strives to serve and unite the University of Florida and to enhance traditions for the continual improvement of the Gator Nation. External Affairs is charged with representing student opinions and views on key legislative priorities at the local, state, and federal level. These issues are identified and tracked on a daily basis to protect and provide a vital student voice in higher education issues. At the local level, this position ensures student representation downtown on city boards and committees. Much of the state lobby focus is placed on tuition, financial aid, and credit hour issues. Each year, External Affairs Agency sets legislative priorities before the Legislature begins session in the spring. Federally, External Affairs Agency represents students on federal financial aid issues, specifically advocating for increases in the most popular form of federal aid, the Pell Grant.

Gator Innovators was created with the idea that we, as students, can collaborate to foster the startup, innovation and entrepreneurship communities here in Gainesville. They believe that students here at the University of Florida should collaborate among each and other and among our peers at other Universities around the nation. The Gender and Sexuality Protection Agency (GASP) within the Student Government at the University of Florida is committed to safeguarding and advancing equality for all genders and sexualities on campus. Acknowledging the prevalent inequalities in society regarding gender and sexuality, GASP endeavors to address them through education and fostering empathy. Central to GASP’s vision is cultivating relationships and the mutual understanding of diverse perspectives among students. Through organizing events and campus initiatives, GASP serves as a platform for students to educate themselves about the repercussions of gender and sexuality-based discrimination and actively participate in combatting it.

Nightlife Navigators is a Student Government agency dedicated to the promotion of safety on the University of Florida campus and surrounding Gainesville area. From the UF Mobile Safety App, to informing students about safe nighttime transportation options, and coordinating with the University of Florida Police Department, Nightlife Navigators constantly strives to improve safety and awareness for the students at the University of Florida. This director shall serve at the discretion of the Student Body President and Executive Committee to partner with the Gainesville community and businesses to provide solutions to keep students safe.

The Student Government Accountability Agency (SGAA) plays a critical role in fostering a culture of accountability and transparency within Student Government. The job of the Student Government Accountability Agency is to conduct holistic reviews of Student Government operations, spending, and events. SGAA additionally provides recommendations for improvement to the Student Body President to ensure that Student Government is working effectively and efficiently. Through its operations, SGAA identifies areas where Student Government’s operations can be enhanced or streamlined to better serve the needs of the student body.

The Student Government Institute (SGI) at the University of Florida is a Student Government leadership conference geared toward universities in the Southeast. Each year, schools are invited to attend the conference during the summer semester where they can send Student Government representation for an all-encompassing conference that will help promote leadership and teach other useful information to new SG administration. Interactive workshops and seminars are planned to allow the participants to improve their leadership theory and experiences. In addition to presentations by various UF students and administrators, students will have to opportunity to engage in several team-building and learning activities designed to challenge each student’s leadership skills and allow them to bring these skills back to their areas.

Student Government Productions (SGP) provides a diverse array of popular entertainment to students for free or at a reduced cost. Performer selection is based on the concert dates, which are determined around the UF academic calendar and other student-focused events on campus. SGP strives to offer shows on a regular basis, and looks for performers who are within the organization’s spending limit.

The Honor Court was established in 1914 as part of the Student Government Judicial Branch to promote fairness and honesty among the student body. In 2010, the Honor Court was reorganized under the direction of the University of Florida Board of Trustees and Student Government. The task of hearing cases of academic dishonesty was delegated to the Student Conduct and Conflict Resolution Committee under the supervision of the Dean of Students. The position of Honor Code Chancellor is simply stated in one phrase: To promote and maintain the honesty and integrity of the student body. The Chancellor acts as the primary student body guardian of the Student Honor Code. As such, the Chancellor oversees and promotes the honest and ethical behavior on which the University of Florida’s Student Honor Code is based. The Chancellor also provides education, training and awareness for the student body on Honor Code issues. Additionally, the Chancellor plays a major role in the enforcement of the Student Conduct Code by assisting in the selection of the student and faculty members of the student conduct committee, as well as the training of the student members. The Honor Code Administration serves many functions, but should be seen, first and foremost, as a constant resource for the student body.

Students Taking Action Against Racism is an agency of Student Government dedicated to the improvement of race relations on the University of Florida campus. STAAR recognizes the existence of racial inequality within society and attempts to combat it through the spread of education and empathy. The vision of STAAR is strongly based on the importance of building relationships and subsequently growing to understand the perspective of fellow students. Using events and campus based initiatives, STAAR acts as a means for all students to learn about the effects of racism and become directly involved in standing against it.

The Big Event is a huge day of service created for the student body to serve the Gainesville community. The agency promotes the value of doing things for the “Gator Good” by giving them an opportunity to say thank you to the Gainesville community for allowing the University of Florida student body to be a part of the Gainesville family. The Big Event consists of a full day of service and other activities to help build a better and closer connected Gainesville as well as provide one big statement of our gratitude. The Young Leaders Conference is a 3-day conference hosted on campus at the University of Florida for high school students. Students are led through a variety of leadership workshops and provided a unique opportunity to engage with UF students and campus. Students also participate in bonding activities, a campus tour, and more! YLC strives to instill the tenets of leadership into high school students and continue to promote their personal and professional development.
