What is ACCENT?
ACCENT Speaker's Bureau is the largest,
student-run, speaker's bureau in the nation. Created in 1967, ACCENT is celebrating
41 continuous years of bringing prominent, controversial, and influential
speakers to the University of Florida. ACCENT strives to bring world class
programming to educate, enlighten, engage, and entertain the student body.
ACCENT has provided the University of Florida with a
plethora of big names, including past Presidents, Prime Ministers, media,
business and sports legends. ACCENT brings controversial and influential
speakers to the university, with the intent of further educating the student
body, outside of the classroom, on current hot topics and controversies.
You can find ACCENT advertisements hanging all
around campus, in the residence halls, on billboards, in update emails, on
television and radio stations, in the newspapers, and in local businesses.
ACCENT shows are always free and open to the public, so be on the lookout for
the next great show!
ACCENT sponsors many of its own shows, but also cosponsors with many student
groups. ACCENT typically sponsors a show a month, but this is usually the
bare minimum! If your registered Student Activities Center Organization would
like information on how to cosponsor, please fill out the webform for cosponsorships and someone from
the ACCENT staff will be in touch with you soon.
As an agency of Student Government, the ACCENT Chair is directly supervised
by the Student Body President. At the beginning of each semester, ACCENT
applications are available to all students to fill out. Without the dedicated
work of each and every ACCENT staff member, the success of our shows would be
impossible. The success of our shows are a direct consequence of the staff's
initiative and hard work!
