ACCENT Positions

Vice Chair of Promotions
Oversees the following positions and reports to the chairman every week

On Campus Advertising
Publicizes ACCENT events at the residence halls, Greek houses, announces at Student and Faculty Senate meetings, as well as distributes fliers and hangs posters around the campus.

Off Campus Advertising
Distributes posters to local businesses and off campus apartment complexes, targeting the community and commuter students.

Press Relations
Writes and distributes press releases and coordinates press conferences.  Handles most of the press/media  relations. Must be knowledgeable of journalistic style.

Program
Creates a program with a brief history of the speaker, the ACCENT organization, any co-sponsoring organization, and a survey regarding future shows. Also is responsible for distributing the programs and collecting the surveys.

Vice Chair of Production
Oversees the following positions and reports to the chairman every week.  Also responsible for any day of show coordination.

Audio-Visual/Technical
Videotapes ACCENT speeches and produces promotional video highlights as well as works with hired still photographer.  Keeps ACCENT and all video equipment up to date technologically.

Guest Relations
Arranges hotel accommodations, ground transportation, tours of campus, meals, and any other details that will make the guests stay at UF as pleasurable as possible.  Works directly with the Special Guests Coordinators.

Production
Works with the venue to ensure all aspects of production of the speech are in order including seating assignments, microphone setup, lighting, sound, the stage, entry and exit, and staff-pass distribution.

Security
Provides security and ushers to ensure the safety of the speaker, maintains crowd control pre and post speech, oversees microphone use for end of show questions.

Vice Chair of Outreach
Oversees the following positions and reports to the chairman every week.

Feedback
Oversees the public’s recommendations. Coordinates ideas given by surveys and presents them to the chairman in a concise format to improve the future of ACCENT. Sets up laptop at shows for audience to join ACCENT Listserv.

Interactive Services
Publicizes ACCENT events through computer medium and maintains the ACCENT home page as part of the Student Government home page.  Graphic and web design background necessary.

Co-Sponsorship
seeks out and facilitates necessary meetings with organizations on campus interested in co-sponsorships. Reports directly to the Treasurer.

Special Projects
Creatively advertises and designs shows.  Works with staff to brainstorm new programming concepts.

Vice Chair of Structure
Oversees the following positions and reports to the chairman every week.

Political Affairs
Coordinates political speaking engagements for local, state and federal elected officials and candidates.

Photography
Photographs ACCENT speeches and produces promotional photo slideshow highlights as well as works with hired still photographer.

Historian
Maintains a scrap book of all programs, articles, and press releases for every show ACCENT presents or co sponsors.

Personnel
Organizes and coordinates staff members and meetings to ensure the staff is both utilized and involved.

Treasurer
Oversees finances of ACCENT, works with the chairman to disperse funds appropriately.  Maintains account electronically (through software and Docutraq) and works directly with SG Finance.

Administrative Assistant
Works directly with/for the chairman to ensure the daily activities of ACCENT operate efficiently.

Special Guest Coordinators
works directly with all ACCENT guests to ensure their comfort and safety during their stay at UF.
